Yunhee Min & Peter Tolkin: Red Carpet in C

Culver Center of the Arts

August 18 - December 29, 2018

Yunhee Min & Peter Tolkin: Red Carpet in C is a collaboration between painter, Yunhee Min, and architect, Peter Tolkin, which represents a culmination of shared interests, passion, and on-going conversations about music, architecture, and color, as well as the powerful ways they shape individual and collective experiences of space. Conceived as performative architecture, Red Carpet in C will be a massive fabric installation functioning as both an object to be viewed and a space to be inhabited, a virtual translation of music into three-dimensions. The suspended red fabric form undulates through the volume of a two-story atrium, expanding itself into low-hanging curvatures, functioning as a small amphitheater for experimental music performances.

Yunhee Min & Peter Tolkin: Red Carpet in C is organized by the Barbara & Art Culver Center of the Arts at UCR ARTSblock and is curated by Tyler Stallings. Yunhee Min & Peter Tolkin: Red Carpet in C has been possible with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the University of California Institute for Research in the Arts. UCR's College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences and the City of Riverside provide support for ARTSblock programs.
